DeskGauge is free to read. It is funded by affiliate commissions: when you follow a link from this site to Amazon and buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise.

The formal bit

DeskGauge is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

What this changes

We would be lying if we said the incentive did not exist. It does: we get paid when you buy, and we get nothing when you do not. So here is what we do about it.

• No manufacturer pays us for placement, and we do not accept sponsored reviews. Every commission comes from the retailer after the fact, not from the brand.
• Where the honest answer is "you do not need to buy anything", we say so. Several of our guides end with a free fix.
• We do not quote prices on the page. Prices move constantly and stale numbers mislead people, so the link goes to the live listing instead.
• Every link that earns us money is marked, and pages that contain them carry a notice before the first one.
